“Tork or Sarge”
Beloved husband, father, brother, poppa and friend; suddenly was taken from us early Saturday morning November 9, 2013. Born on March 27, 1945 in Menahga, MN to Edward and Effie Torkkola. Erv grew up in Northern Minnesota and graduated in the Class of ’63 from Deer River High School. A decorated Vietnam veteran, who honorably served for 20 years in the US Army as a medic and Orthopedic Tech. After retiring from the Army, “Tork” continued his love for the Orthopedic clinic at Madigan until mid 2011, when he retired from the cast room.
Survived by his wife Alice, of 34 years, his daughters; Heather (Joe and their three children), Donna (Raymond), Tanya (CJ and their four sons), DiAnna (Ron and their three sons) and Krissie and family. Sons include; Eric Torkkola and Ervin Torkkola JR. His loving sisters and brothers; Eleanor Stejskal, Ethel and Rod Benham, Earl Torkkola (Pam), Ernie Torkkola and numerous of other relatives.
A hardworking man of strong faith, who loved his family and would do anything for anyone, Erv will be greatly missed. Life will never be the same now that he is gone but he will forever continue to be the strength for his family. Watch over us dad, we love you. Rest In Peace.
