Ernesto D Balangue's Obituary
Ernesto was the eldest son of Faustino and Nena Balangue, born in Caba, La Union, Philippines and grew up in Baguio City. He attended the Saint Louis school system, nursery at Mount Mary, Center for elementary, Boys High School class of 1962, Bachelor of Science in Commerce in 1967. He worked at the St Louis Silver Shop from high school and through college. He was a Certified Public Accountant. He worked at the Benguet Corporation as a payroll clerk at Balatoc Mines. He transferred to the Philippine National Bank after passing the employment test given by the bank. While working at the bank Baguio branch, he taught accounting at the Baguio Central University. His being transferred to another bank branch cut short his teaching career. He rose through the ranks and retired as an Assistant Vice President after 26 years of service. He was offered the opportunity to open the Centennial Bank branch in Baguio in which he was senior manager for 10 years. He decided to move residence to Tacoma, WA, to help raise our only grandkid who was four years old at that time. He was a member of the winning basketball team (bracket B) in college, a golfer who made hole in one at the Baguio Country Club and played at camp John Hay golf course. He joined golf tournaments in the Philippines. He won in Tagatay. He was a member of the Baguio Country Club, Baguio Rotary Club, Baguio Toastmasters Club, and Camp John Hay Golf Club. He died in his sleep at St. Joseph Medical Center for a brainstem stroke.
He is survived by his wife Roberta, Daughters Agnes and Marie, granddaughter Angelina, son in law Harley Herron, brother Oscar, and sister, Thelma. Viewing will be held on January 6th, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00pm with Mass to follow at Mountain View Funeral Home. Due to Covid restrictions mandated by the state, these services are by invitation only.
