Dear John and family,
We will truly miss your dad very much, he was a great friend and brother in Christ. I hope I never forget the way he loved Kathy, I've never seen that kind of love up close. And yes, his love for you and Diane and those 2 grand-sons we're always evident as he planned his journey up to visit your family and more evident as he told us of his time he had spent with you. He was proud of the way you provide and raise the children in the Lord and in their school. He showed us the paper that one of your sons wrote on him, I think it was on Bobs military career, including a picture as best I can recall. Being a former elder in the Church of Christ he was very understanding of different denominations as long as "Jesus was the arch, the foundation,of our salvation".This we could not debate or else we would divide, knowing a house divided will not stand. Your dad and I had debated over the baptism/music issue as I have with other brothers in Christ but I think we both agreed it was not a salvation issue. Bob has cassete tapes of Charles Swindoll and we would discuss Mr Swindolls angle and your dad would gently say "that part he misunderstands" and we would respect each others position. Your dad could tell some funny jokes and it was funny just to see him prepare to launch one! He made being a christian fun and real. We miss him already and I look forward to seeing him in heaven with your mom and mine.I bet he has those huge grapefruits waiting for my dad. He used to buy them by the box and deliver to pops. My dad misses him. Lets keep our families in prayer and raise our kids in the name above all names,Jesus the Lion of the tribe of Judah. We will reunite as we remain faithful thru our trials on our journey. Our hearts and prayers go out to you dear brother John.
