Ernest Joseph Ishem Sr's Obituary
Ernest Joseph Ishem, Sr. was born in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi on September 19, 1923 to Edward and Angele Ishem. He passed away in Tacoma, Washington on December 4, 2015 at 92 years of age. Clothilde, his loving wife of 69 years, survives him. He also leaves behind four children, Ernest, Cyril, Dwight and Marlene; his friend and son-in-law, Will, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
Ernest retired from the US Army after 22 years, having served in France during World War II, and in the Korean Conflict. He went to work as a professional chef in many of the best restaurants in the Tacoma/Lakewood area.
The family would like to thank the staff at Madigan Army Medical Center for the extraordinary care and attention provided to our husband and father.
Ernest was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by us all.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 Saturday, December 12 in the Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home, followed by a catered reception in the Oak Room at Mountain View.
Interment and committal service with military honors will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 14, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. Remembrances may be shared at www.mountainviewtacoma.com.
