Ernest M. Elmore's Obituary
Rev. Ernest M. Elmore, was born on November 18, 1935 in Tacoma, Washington, he passed away at St. Joseph’s hospital in Tacoma on November 5, 2017.
He is survived by Barbara “Bobbie” Elmore, his wife of 49 years. His four sons, Michael (Carolyn) of Idaho, Matthew (Sarah) of Donald, OR, Jeffrey (Becky) of Pineville, OR, and Zachary (Shari) of Tacoma, WA. and two daughters, Julie Barnett (Robert) of Pineville, OR and Kathryn (Todd) Lamphere of Centralia, WA. He is survived by his brothers Richard (Karren) Elmore, of Puyallup and Larry of Spanaway, WA as well as a sister, Alice Mailloux of Seattle, WA. He was blessed with thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rev. Elmore served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring in 1977 as a Captain. Captain Elmore saw combat duty in the Korean War and the Viet Nam War, where he sustained numerous wounds earning him the Bronze Star with combat V, five Purple Hearts, as well as numerous other awards.
After military service, Rev. Elmore and wife, Bobbie, were called to serve Jesus Christ as missionaries with Cadence, Int’l and served as missionaries at the Hanson Christian Center on Okinawa, Japan to U.S. Marine and Navy personnel. Rev Elmore was ordained by the Baptist General Conference and sent to pastor churches in Mansfield, WA and later in Chehalis, WA.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to honor Ernie at Mt. View Baptist Church on Saturday, November 18, 2017 located at 1201 Belmont Ave. Centralia, WA 98531 at 2PM. Light refreshments will follow.
