Erna W Ahlman's Obituary
Erna Wacker Ahlman
Age 83, of Straubing Germany. Erna passed away quietly on Saturday, August 20th in Bremerton at Bay Pointe Retirement Community. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Joe. She met and fell madly in love with her “Joey” in the spring of 1960 where he was stationed in her home town with the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment. She never dreamed she would leave her home town, but her love for her handsome young soldier meant she had to be wherever he went. She was proud to be a military wife and did everything she could to support him in his career. She went on the adventure of a lifetime crossing continents and oceans with him.
She instilled that same sense of pride and devotion to family in their three children. Each one of them is sure they were her favorite. Each one of them is right. To be loved by Erna Meant you were gifted with her firm hand as well as her soft touch. Something her children recall in great fondness.
Erna held a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime. She most enjoyed working at the Shoppette at Ft. Lewis.McChord. She loved meeting people and sharing a good laugh. Her absolute favorite job was taking care of her family. She love nothing more than to cook a great German meal for her family on Sundays and on holidays it was imperative that she and Joe host an event at their home. She made everyone feel welcome.
Erna and Joe had many friends throughout the years and they loved to dance and share a beer and a meal. They never missed the opportunity to go out on New Year’s Eve in their finest – an evening when having a good time was mandatory.
Erna leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children, Heinz, Michael and Karin, her granddaughter, Rebekah, great grandchildren David and Taylor, her sister Herta, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home on Saturday August 27th, 2016 at the Garden Chapel. Family and friends kindly invited.
She leaves us only to be with her beloved Joey – as we all knew she would. It was with him that she found her greatest joy and together they will have lasting peace. She was genuinely loved, she will be dearly missed.
