to Auntie Erma's family and friends,
I always knew Aunt Erma, she and uncle Art lived a few houses down the street from grandpa and grandma LaRue ( Glynn and Irene) but what
I remember most as a child was when she worked at Seward Elementary School. My school! She was MY Aunt Erma, and everyone of my friends knew it. I had half the school calling her Aunt Erma. one day the principle, Mr. Nelson, called me in his office to have a little talk with me about calling
mrs. LaRue "Aunt Erma" I started crying "she IS my aunt erma". Just than for some reason my mom happened to be at the school working on a PTA project and saw me crying in the office. She explained to Mr. Nelson that Mrs. LaRue was indeed my aunt. than everything was fine, but I had to get the rest of the kids to stop calling her Aunt Erma and call her Mrs. LaRue.
During summer vacation I would bring a sack lunch and ride my bike to school, knock on the door and have lunch with her.
it was a special treat for me.
