Mark Fenske
We were blessed to have met Erika through Mark’s extended family and have enjoyed many years with her. Erika seemed to enjoy her position as matriarch of the family for so many years. She loved her entire family and seemed protective of them all. On the last visit we had with Erika, she praised her daughter Friedel and her granddaughter Jennifer and how much she appreciated them both. As a mother to Friedel, her compassion was evident when asked for the family to care for Friedel when she was gone. A sweet reminder of what is most important, is family.
There were such great memories of the family gatherings that Erika attended. She enjoyed catching up with us as we shared what had transpired since our last gathering. We had some great debates as Erika had strong views and loved sharing them with us in her own dynamic style. She was extremely proud of her German heritage and loved providing German sweets at the holidays with everyone. It was always hard to believe that her big throaty laugh came from such a petit lady. It still makes us smile just to think about that easy laugh she had. Erika added spice to our lives and her presence will be missed but we will remember all the great visits we had with her.
