Eric Anthony Hickey
Eric Anthony Hickey (Cowboy) was born March 20, 1980, and passed away suddenly of natural causes on May 14, 2016. He spent the first three years of his life on Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands, and the remaining thirty-three years in Lakewood, Washington.
He attended St. Frances Cabrini grade school in Lakewood, St. Christopher Academy for special needs children in Kent, received a GED from Pierce College, and a Computer Networking certificate from Clover Park Technical College. As a young man, he canoed the Boundary Waters Wilderness Area, sailed Puget Sound, and climbed in the North Cascades with the Outward Bound organization. He was a lifelong Star Wars fan, and loved animals. His constant companion while growing up was his beloved black lab mix, Patches. Eric was an inveterate gamer, and enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of his gaming companions at the Game Matrix in Lakewood.
Eric is survived by his parents, Paul and Ruth Anne Hickey of Lakewood, WA; sister Emily Nohrden (Steve) of Lincoln, MA and their four children (John, Genevieve, Elizabeth, and Grace); grandmother Jean Hickey of Burnaby, BC; birth mother Pam Rockcastle and birth grandmother Patricia Rockcastle of Issaquah, WA; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the US and Canada.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 23, from 9 am to 7 pm at Mountain View Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 am at St. Frances Cabrini Church on Wednesday, May 25, with a reception following. Following the reception, a graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm at Mountain View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eric’s name to the Asperger/Autism Network, or the American Diabetes Association.
