Emma T. Archer's Obituary
Emma T. Archer, 93, died on January 11, 2011. She was born April 27, 1917 in Tacoma, Washington. Emma graduated from Stadium High School in 1935 and was a lifelong resident of Tacoma. She married Maxwell Archer in 1940, a marriage that lasted 54 years until his death. She had a career with the Internal Revenue Service for over 30 years until her retirement in1972. After retiring, she enjoyed bridge playing and frequent travels with her husband.
Emma was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she was and Elder. She was a life member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, the American Historical Association of Germans from Russia, the Tacoma Elks Lodge, No. 174, BPOE. Emma was active in the Comus Dance Club and enjoyed bowling in the Tacoma Women's Major League.
Survivors are a son Max, daughter-in-law Isabelle, and grandson Adam. Memorial contributions may be made to the Max and Emma Scholarship Fund at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1315 No. Stevens, Tacoma, 98506 or the Tacoma Lutheran Home, 1301 No. Highlands Parkway, Tacoma, 98506.
