When I was born, Joanne Kit, in April of 1958, and named after my Aunt Kitty, I didn’t realize what a tremendous impact she would have in my life. She was always a constant…constant laughter, style, beauty, support and love. I remember so many memories with her, all of which I hold so close in my heart. Memories like the many Christmas parties at her home, full of merriment, good food, boozy eggnog and family togetherness; traveling down to Mexico, drinking too much and dancing on the tables or going down to the Oregon Coast, taking in all that salt air and creating memories to cherish. The more recent memories, of course, were mom and I visiting Regency Park where my beautiful Aunt would profess to “running the place” and joining her for good eats and drinks in #212 or perhaps a Regency Park Happy Hour. We loved spending time together reminiscing about the old days and catching up with our Portland family. She was the pulse of information. She always dressed with such style, very on trend, complete with full jewelry, her face perfectly made up and her nails freshly painted, which at times would gently sweep her hair to the side when not clipped back. She was always so interested in what was happening in my life…with my kids and, of course, with my current diet. Haha.
I am SO sad that I can no longer see her, but I will always continue to celebrate her in my heart and remember her with immense love. At this time of year, I am grateful for all the time we shared and I am forever Blessed to have had her in my life.
