Elsie Ann Lilley (McGoldrick) Spence
Born in Granite Falls, Washington on March 25, 1919, a life-long resident of her beloved Evergreen state. Her mother Rachel Baker Lilley came from Wisconsin via wagon train with her parents and siblings. Her father Grover Anthony Lilley came by rail from Louisiana.
Elsie attended Stadium High School in Tacoma and graduated 1937. In 1940 she graduated from Mode O'Day beauty school. During the war, Elsie worked for Pacific N.W. Bell 1941-1947 and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Elsie was married to Mitchel "Mike" McGoldrick 1947-1964. In 1970 she married Ted Spence of Olympia until his passing. She was the mother of son Michael M. McGoldrick and his wife Donna of Olympia, and daughter Margie Ann (McGoldrick) Ryan and her husband Patrick Ryan of Colorado, a Grandmother to three, Amanda Ann Marie Ryan of Colorado, Michelle and David McGoldrick both in Washington state. Also, five great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted daughter and loving mother. Elsie is survived by her brother William E. Lilley of Washington now residing in Arizona whom she dearly loved, along with nieces and nephews. Preceded her in death is brother Neil and his wife Ida Lilley from Tacoma.
Elsie enjoyed reading, camping, traveling, bowling and clam digging. She excelled on her bowling team and won many awards. Her civic pride was noted on the honor roll of Thurston county for voting 50 years plus. She was also a member of the ladies Eagles Auxiliary.
She will be missed but never forgotten.
