Elsie King's Obituary
Elsie P. King
-Å"Peggy- was born on May 2, 1919 in Castle Rock, Washington to John and Emma (Swanson) Wogberg, and passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2011 at age 92. Peggy was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her pastor as she prepared to join her husband of 60 years, Albert C. "Bud" King who died March 22, 2000. Peggy was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Irene Wogberg, and daughter-in-law Carole King. Peggy worked at United Pacific Insurance Company home office for 25 years, where she started proofreading policies, then Manager of Agency Records, and Secretary of United Pacific Reliance Insurance Companies. Peggy was honored with the Golden Acorn Award for her efforts to make Kindergarten a part of the Tacoma School District's educational system. She was a volunteer in Puyallup schools and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Puyallup, where she was active in the Women's Association. She loved hosting holiday Smorgasbords at her home for friends and family. "I don't want any" would get you an average serving. She loved to bake cookies, and always had a pot of coffee ready to serve. Elsie "Peggy" King is survived by her children Richard and Sandy King of University Place, Roger King of Lincoln City, Oregon, and Nancy and John Zak of Puyallup, grandchildren Doug and Tawnya King of Irvine, California, Kristin King of University Place, Anthony and Chyrrl Zak of Redmond, and Sara and Curtis Strom of Tucson, Arizona, great-grandchildren Madison and Payton King, Lenaya, Joey and Alex King-Grabowski, and Leif and Carlie Strom. Peggy was a dedicated grandmother who loved watching her grandkids' events and spending time with them. Bud and Peggy opened their home to many of their extended family who needed a loving home for a short or long-term situation. They also enjoyed putting on special Sunday dinners for the children from Home on the Hill. Peggy loved to travel within the United States, and was able to enjoy trips to Europe, Scandinavia, Mexico, and Africa. Peggy was often known for being late, but her journey to heaven was perfectly timed. She died as she lived, with confidence and peace. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 19, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church of Puyallup, 412 West Pioneer, where donations can be made in her name.
