Elsie Aline Orchard.
Born to Jesse and Pearl Helton on May 11, 1917 in Texhoma, Oklahoma. She had two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one sister, Dorothy of Mesa, Arizona, and one brother, Don Winters of Chehalis, Washington. She passed away peacefully on December 15, 2010 in Tacoma, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, her son Jerry and two grandsons, Lance and Larry. She is survived by her sons: Thomas L. (Norma), Ronald E. (Jenell); her daughter Iola A. (Franz) Burnworth; and her daughter-in-law Rickie (Jerry C.) She has a large, loving family and is survived by 17 grandchildren, 29 great grand children and eight great great grandchildren.
She met Earl at a dance at the local Grange. They married in 1934. They made their first home in Richfield, ID and lived in and around Twin Falls for many years. They lived a short while in California during World War II, where she worked in one of the airplane plants, glueing parts to the gas tanks. The planes would eventually be used in the war. They finally settled in Washington in 1950 and resided in their present home since 1952.
She was a great cook and was well known for her beans and cornbread, but her passion was to be outside. She was the owner of Orchard's Nursery from 1962-1983. She loved working with her plants and flowers. She loved fishing, camping, and clamming with her family and friends. She loved to travel and knew the highways between Washington, Idaho and Nevada by heart. She loved to crochet and provided her family with a lifetime supply of potholders and dishcloths. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.
