Elmer & Chloe SchneiderElmer John Schneider, 90, died on September 8, 2003. His wife of 67 years, Chloe Virginia Schneider, 89, died six days later, on September 14, 2003. Both had been in failing health for some time.Elmer Schneider was born in Brazito, Missouri on June 15, 1913, the son of Christian and Anna Raithel Schneider. Chloe Schneider was born in Clever, Missouri on September 2, 1914, the daughter of Harry Williams and Elsie Swadley Williams. They both graduated from Jefferson City High School and were married in Rolla, Missouri, on June 13, 1936.Chloe and Elmer settled in Lakewood in 1950. Elmer was a skilled mechanic and a pressman with the Tacoma News Tribune from 1950 until his retirement. Chloe was a homemaker and a retail clerk at the Rhodes Department Store in Lakewood.Chloe and Elmer were founding members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Lakewood, and their lives focused on their church. After retirement, Chloe and Elmer spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona and lived the remainder of the year in Lakewood. They are survived by their son, Patrick, and granddaughter Elaine of Seattle. Chloe also is survived by her brother, Willard Williams, and sister, Marjene Williams Sievert, of Ashland, Missouri.A joint memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., this Saturday, September 20, 2003, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 10333 Bridgeport Way SW, Lakewood. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Prince of Peace Memorial Fund.
