Ella J. Eggimann's Obituary
Ella Jay Eggimann Age 99, born Feb. 24th, 1913 in Boaz, Alabama, died Sept. 6th, 2012 in Puyallup, WA. She was the daughter of William Jay Stephens and Mary Ella Stephens, sister to Charles Alexander (Jack), wife to Frank, mother to Darlene and Ronald, grand-mother to 11, great grand-mother to 20 and great great grandmother to 12.
After the loss of both of her parents at a young age, Ella made her way to California, first staying with an aunt, and then settling with her Grandmother Stephens in Arlington, Oregon. She met Frank C. Eggimann of Arlington and they wed on May 3rd, 1930 in Gresham, Oregon. A highlight in both of their lives was the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary in 1980. Ella and Frank made their way to Tacoma, WA when Frank was offered work in his brother Walter's bakery. Much of their married life was spent in the south end of Tacoma on Junette St. Ella was active with the South Tacoma United Presbyterian Church.
She was a voracious reader. Murder mysteries were her favorites. She took great pride in her vegetable garden that spanned the entire length of their backyard. She enjoyed canning and sharing her garden prizes with family and friends. Additionally she and Frank maintained an immaculate lawn and rose garden as well. First and foremost, Ella loved her family, she enjoyed preparing delicious family meals and always had home baked desserts for her grandchildren to enjoy.
She is survived by her daughter Darlene Brennan of Chicago, IL. She is pre-deceased by her parents, brother, husband Frank, son Ronald, son in law Howard and granddaughter Julie.
The Eggimann and Brennan families wish to thank Linden Grove Health Care Center, Bethany Adult Family Home, Good Samaritan Hospital (Cardiac Care Unit), Lifecare Center of Puyallup and Mountain View Funeral Home. At Ella's request, there were no formal services.
