Ella Griffith's Obituary
Ella Griffith
Angels escorted our mother through the gates of heaven on Christmas morning. What an absolutely incredible gift she gave our father on that day, reuniting forever with her soul mate. Amazing, but that was our mother.
Born in a small, rural town in West Germany on December 8, 1929, our mother's life was different than most born during that era. Times were tough and everyone had to work very hard for what little they got. Her early years were interrupted by WWII. Many times she had to hide, be separated from her family, and merely survive.
She met our father Luther during the war, fell in love, got married and began a wonderful life. She migrated here in 1949 not knowing how to speak English but quickly learning without formal aid. She has four children: Ralph (Diana), San Antonio, Texas; Don (Reema), Olympia, Washington; LaLana (Jim) Thurman, Olympia, Washington; and Wynonia (Tim, deceased) Palm, Lakewood, Washington. She also has six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. We were the center of her life. She assured our welfare always. Life couldn't have been better for her, through us and dad.
Our father passed away suddenly about 8 years ago. Mom lost her soul mate and was never the same person after that. The happy light in her heart broke and she didn't want it fixed. Family and friends tried to provide the fuel needed to bring happiness back into her life, but she wouldn't allow it - until Christmas morning 2011.
What an absolutely incredible gift for dad, being reunited with our mother. Her happy light is now glowing brighter than ever. She is where she wanted to be.
Our mom suffered from Alzheimer's disease the last couple years of her life. It's an ugly, debilitating disease. Memorial donations made on her behalf should go to any organization working towards finding a cure for it.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Celebration of Life Center located at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, Washington.
Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
