Elizabeth M. Sand
Elizabeth "Billie" M. Sand, born to Lillian and Henry Paty on November 21, 1918 and called to Heaven December 28, 2013. Billie was a lifelong resident of Tacoma: graduated from Lincoln High School in 1935 and retired after more than 20 years from Tacoma City Light. After retirement she continued doing what she loved most, watching her sons and grandchildren play ball and exploring the beaches of Puget Sound with them. And, on occasion, playing a hand or two of Pinochle. One of her talents was the knitting of "Christmas Slippers". It was a tradition she started 50 years ago to have a pair of knitted slippers under the tree for every member of her family.
Married to Kenneth C. Schulz and had a son, Kenneth A. Schulz. Kenneth C. Schulz was killed in WWII in France.
Preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Leslie Sand, brother Maxwell Paty and sister Aileen Paty. She is survived by sons Kenneth A. Schulz, (Mary Jane) Tacoma WA, Stephen L. Sand (Mary) Gilbert AZ; and the “lights of her life”, her grandchildren: Scott Schulz(Millie) Gig Harbor WA, Joshua Schulz(Kim) Olympia WA, Stacy Schulz, Jon Travis(Carolyn) Carlsbad CA, Casey Sand (fiancé Lisa) Mesa AZ, Amanda Strom, Fremont CA. Great grand-children: Madison Schulz, Isabella and Cooper Schulz, Josiah and Isaiah Strom, Noah and Will Travis.
