Elizabeth H. Wright's Obituary
Elizabeth Helen (Jowett) Wright The newest angel in Heaven is Elizabeth Helen Sinning (Jowett) Wright. Elizabeth's sunrise began on August 21, 1924 in Canton, South Dakota. Liz had to fight for life from the very first day. Unfortunately, her mother and twin sister lost that battle and both passed away the day Elizabeth was born. After living a full life of 83 years, she once again had to fight to live. Losing the battle, her sunset came early in the morning on May 28, 2008. Liz grew up in Lennox, South Dakota, raised and loved by her maternal grandmother and her Aunt Sena. She had a happy childhood, frequently visiting her father, two brothers, and four sisters, all living nearby in Canton. Liz moved to the Seattle area in 1945 to be near her brother, stationed in Bremerton, and to find work. She loved to roller skate and met her future husband, Francis William (Don) Jowett, at King's Roller Rink in 1946. They married in 1947, settled in Tacoma and started a family. Together, they had 3 girls, Ruth, Linda, and Nancy and one boy, James (Jim). Liz led a full and active life. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service, Wick's Trophies, and was census taker in 1960. She served as PTA President, home room mother, and taxi driver for all the kids' activities. Liz loved machine knitting, winning many awards at the Puyallup Fair. She also crocheted innumerable afghans for family and friends. She was an accomplished bowler, serving as an alternate several times on the women's All Star Team. She traveled to and participated in several tournaments across the United States. In retirement, she traveled extensively, visiting many countries including Italy, Greece, Japan, Australia, Fiji, India, Hong Kong, Russia, France, Germany, Egypt, England, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand and many more. She visited every state in the Union, with the exception of Alaska. Liz and Don loved being a part of the Tacoma Banjo Club. Don played the banjo, while Liz danced with the other wives to their lively tunes. Liz continued to dance with the club after losing Don in 1991. God's hand was guiding her, for at one of their performances she met her second husband, Robert Wright. Robert knew she was an angel, sent for him, the minute they met. They married in 1994 and spent the next fourteen years together in everlasting love. From him she inherited seven stepchildren. It was a joy for the family to witness their love and devotion for one another. They continued to travel, making several trips to visit family in South Dakota. They took particular pleasure in attending Sweet Adeline conventions each fall, always in a different area of the nation. We will sorely miss her support and seeing her smiling face there. Her love and support of her family never faltered. Her love and belief in God was rock solid. Thank God, she is now pain free and safe in the arms of Jesus! Liz was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Don Jowett (1991), and her son-in-law, Ronald Crippen (2007). Liz is survived by Robert Wright, her husband of the last 14 years, her children, Ruth Whitfeldt (Russell), Linda Randleman (Mark Sr.), Nancy Crippen, and James Jowett (Amanda). She is also survived by her stepchildren Rosemarie Young (Bill), Timothy Jowett, F.W. (Bill) Jowett Jr (Inge), and Robert Jowett (Barbara). Liz has 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Elizabeth is now in Heaven, greeted by her Heavenly Father and meeting her mother and twin sister for the first time. As a family, we are all celebrating, with her, that this event has finally happened for her. She looked forward to it with great excitement and anticipation. Liz chose her favorite hymn, to be sung at her memorial, "Tell Mother I'll be There....I promised her, before she died, for Heaven to prepare. O Savior tell my mother, I'll be there!!" Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Matt 25:21 We will miss you and always love you. See you in Heaven for "Mother, we'll all soon be there!" Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, Calvary Baptist Church, 6511 South "C" Street, Tacoma, WA. Donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Missionary Fund in Liz's name, or donate to the charity of your choice.
