Elizabeth Lou Blomgren's Obituary
Elizabeth Lou Blomgren was born on 10-1-1939 in South Dakota to Minard and Elizabeth Jones joining her brother Laurence who was 15 when she was born. The family relocated to Port Orchard shortly after her birth and Betty Lou (as her family called her) grew up there, graduating from South Kitsap High School. She attended nursing school at Tacoma General and graduated with her RN. During her years in nursing school she met her future husband Philip Charles Blomgren. They were married in June 1961. Stephen Philip Blomgren, their son, was born in 1964. Betty and Phil lived primarily in Tacoma but also spent several years in Nevada and California. Betty worked as a surgical and recovery room nurse in many different hospitals and surgery centers over the course of her career. Her careful and competent nursing care were greatly appreciated by both her patients and co-workers (and family members as the need arose). Betty was preceded in death by her son, Stephen in 2007. She is survived by her spouse, Philip, three grandchildren, Katie (Nick) Nugent, Zach (Mikaela) Blomgren and Trenten Blomgren, her brother, Laurence Jones and her daughter-in-law, Jeanie Blomgren as well as 4 great-grandchildren.
