We moved in across the street from Mrs. Parks when I was a little girl in the early 60's. At that age, I was so shy around most adults I couldn't speak. Every so often Mrs. Parks would invite me to chat with her in her kitchen and during those times I never felt anything but her interest, caring and kindness -- and no shyness whatsoever.
We moved away to Canada when I was 10 and while my parents kept in touch and ultimately moved back to the area, I did not. I ran into Mrs. Parks at my Mom's memorial service in August of this year and her presence gave me such immense comfort. After the service, I was able to chat with her for quite a while and really, it felt as if I had just been in her kitchen the day before.
In many important ways, our families will always be connected and her memory will always be in our hearts.##imported-begin##Nancy A. Walker##imported-end##
Betty was always smiling and supportive of all, regardless of the situations we all encountered in our lives. She was ageless, she was such fun in social situations and around her family. I had some very special memories, especially with my former wife Karen, we really loved her warmth and openiness to us, as good friends of James and David . Sad to hear of here leaving us, but I am sure she is at peace with her Maker. Condolences to all the Parks Family, as you celebrate her full life of love and caring, my thoughts with all. We will miss you Betty!

I had the pleasure of being of service to Bette as her housekeeper for about nine years. Initially we found out we had some things in common. We'd usually share a cup of coffee or tea in the morning and catch up on each other's family news, then I would set to work.
Bette loved her church and being of service to the organizations she belonged to. I will miss her. God be with her family during their time of grief.##imported-begin##Sharon Pitcher##imported-end##
Grandma Bette was always there for me, a loving and generous grandmother who took care of me and helped me out so often. She was one of the most important people in my life, I will miss you very much, Grandma...

Please accept my heartfelt condolences at Bette's
death.
No matter when or how it happens, the death of a
parent is a unique sort of loss, a broken bridge to
the past and a pretty vivid reminder of your own
mortality. It leaves you alone in a brand new way.
Bette's passing inevitably led me to think way back to
those years I saw her most and knew her best. I think
I may have felt a kind of subliminal sympathy for her
as she tried as my mother had to raise four kids on
her own. I do recall her vast patience and clear affection for
her children despite the abundant evidence
that you merited none of it. I guess mothers are
hardwired to love their offspring no matter what.
Anyway, I feel lucky for having known Bette, and mourn
her loss. As ever, SGM.
