Elisabeth M. Muth's Obituary
Elisabeth Muth, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Lakewood, Washington, surrounded by her devoted family after a brief illness. She was 100 years old.
Born in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany, on January 25, 1925, Elisabeth brought with her a rich cultural heritage and a resilient spirit when she made Pierce County her home more than sixty years ago. Her life was a remarkable journey of love, strength, and adventure.
Elisabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles A. Muth, and her sons, Alex C. Muth and Michael W. Muth. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Barbara Adams, Alice Lester, and Charlene Pagan; her grandchildren Verne Patterson, Alicia Smith, Kelli Gallegos, Devin Muth, Brittany Muth, Jessica Muth, and Matthew Muth; great-grandchildren Laura Custer, Lilly Patterson, Declan Patterson, Kendall Muth, Kinley Muth, Kaden Muth, Ashley Linderman, Mackenzie Smith, Maddox Smith, Koi Aguilar, Kash Wellman, and Emily Muth; and her great-great-grandson, Levi Custer.
A woman of many passions, Elisabeth found joy in the simple pleasures of life—caring for animals, tending her garden, swimming, hiking the trails of the Pacific Northwest, and playing tennis with her family. She earned two associate degrees from Pierce College, a testament to her lifelong love of learning. Her vivid stories of growing up in Germany, working as a telephone operator during World War II, and later as a bank teller, captivated all who knew her.
Elisabeth’s adventurous spirit took her around the world alongside her husband and their five children, creating memories that spanned continents. A devoted member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church, her faith and generosity left a lasting impact on her community.
A Celebration of Life will be held on the afternoon of August 30, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the American Lake Conference Center at JBLM. If you would like to attend please RSVP to Charlene 954-612-7079. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Elisabeth’s name to the SPCA, honoring her deep love for animals.
