Elisa F. Morton's Obituary
Elisa F. Morton
November 1, 1921 – October 24, 2013
Elisa F. Morton passed away peacefully with her family at her side, age 91 in Tacoma, Washington on October 24, 2013. She was born to Caesar and Clara Garcia, outside of Havana, Cuba on November 1, 1921. In Cuba she worked hard to support her widowed mother, Clara Frias and her daughters; Gladys, and Daisy. She married Douglas Morton in New York, NY. December 3, 1950. New York hosted one of the most prestigious Cosmetology Colleges in the nation from which she graduated. After the birth of her oldest son, Allen Morton, she moved to Tacoma, Washington and later to settle permanently into the beautiful family log home Douglas provided in Spanaway. Here she raised her children Allen, Elisa, Clara, and Delrico. She was also supportive of her Fraga grandchildren coming to the United States and living in the land of opportunity. Her drive to learn the American language and traditions were an encouragement to everyone that knew her. She took classes in government and studied over a decade before obtaining her United States citizenship in 1964. Pursuing her beauty career with her natural talent for business allowed her “New Dimensions” Salon Chain to thrive and grow into a business that many families depended on for employment. The Morton home was always a place for all to feel welcome. She sat out a beautiful healthy meal nightly with enough food all to enjoy. Young military men away from home were no stranger at her holiday tables. Young ladies with any need had a safe bed in her home. She hosted a foreign exchange student. Too many to mention have become loving, responsible adults by her example. Elisa traveled extensively and had a wonderful life. Preceding her in death was her loving husband Douglas Morton and daughters Gladys and Daisy Fraga, all in 2010. She was also preceded by brother Delrico Garcia and sister Rachael Campechuela Oriente. She was survived by her son Allen Morton and wife Lisa, daughter Elisa Clark and husband Allen, daughter Clara Ray, son Delrico Morton, sister Eva Lopez and loving cousins Arturo and Mercedes Frias. There are too many relatives to mention, with over 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She enjoyed six generations of beautiful healthy children. Although she will be greatly missed, her love will shine through the people she touched forever.
