Eleanor M. Wahl's Obituary
Eleanor Mary Seitz Wahl Our beloved "Ellie," 94, passed away peacefully June 22, 2013. She was born January 28, 1919 in Elm Springs, SD to Edwin T. and Mary Ellen (Sherwood) Seitz, and was married November 24, 1941 to Johnny Frederick Wahl, Jr. (1909 - 1969).
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Sandra Clausen Johnson, grandsons Troy Price and Terry Wheeler, and brothers William, Harold, Raymond, Emerson, and Vernon Seitz. She is survived by her sister Phyllis Winter of Olympia, daughters Katherine (S. Ross) Fox of Monroe, Lorraine (Dan) Eastman of La Paz, Mexico, and Marilyn Whittaker of Tacoma, son Frederick (Cindy) Wahl of Yelm; 13 grandchildren, Glenda, Danny, and David Wheeler, Angela Doscher, Kristina (Todd) Elledge, Donna Edwards, Dean (Kim) Reynolds, William Shriner, Michele (Chris) Slaughter, Heidi (Gabriel) Mitchell, Charlene Wahl, and Heather and Nicole Topp, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Eleanor loved cooking, sewing, gardening, bowling, and oil painting. She was a member of the Moose, Elks, Eagles, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliaries, and the Eastside Christian Church. Fred and Eleanor owned a grocery store near Gault Jr. High from 1958 to 1968. Ellie also worked at the Tacoma Mall Payless Drug Store until retiring at age 55. She was inducted into the Voter's Hall of Fame in 2006 for her perfect voting record of 60 years.
She spent her later years doing what she loved most: caring for and helping out her family. She was a kind, gentle soul, and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held in the Mountain View Garden Chapel at 2 P.M. Tuesday, July 9, 2013.
