Eleanor "Sonja" Marie Plecity 's Obituary
Eleanor "Sonja" Maria Anna Plecity, born on September 12, 1947 in Arnstorf, Germany, died
from pneumonia on January 1, 2019 in Lakewood, Washington at the age of 71 after a hardfought battle with COPD and congestive heart failure.
A long-time resident of Olympia, Washington before her death, Sonja spent the last 25 years of
her life as a homemaker, mom, grandmother and friend of nature. She and the love of her life,
Edward Crawford, enjoyed a life of boating, crabbing, camping, touring the Pacific Northwest in
her RV, gardening, and making memories with their children, grandchildren, much-loved pets
and many relatives and friends. She loved the maritime life, the Washington and Oregon
coasts, visiting concerts, fairs, festivals, wineries, casinos and all of the state and national
parks.
Sonja was preceded in death by her first love, James Hudnell, in 1997, her first-born son,
Jimmy Hudnell, in 1998, her brother, Manfred Plecity, in 2002, her second love, Richard
Ramsey, in 2004, and her partner and greatest love of her life, Edward Crawford (Darlene,
Marie, Regina, Jamie, Marguerite), in 2011. She is survived by her son, Johnny Hudnell, her
daughter, Angelique Ramsey, grandchildren Devin, Mariah, Britney, Kayla, Shannen and
Skylar, one great-grandchild, brother Franz Plecity, nieces Marion Peschl (Patrick), Petra
Thomas and Family, and more relatives in Germany.
Sonja was the daughter of upholsterer Franz Plecity and seamstress Fanny Plecity of Munich,
Germany. She will always be remembered for her warrior spirit, her Bavarian dialect and
extraordinary German cooking, her many adorable pets, her beautiful home filled with knickknacks and other collectibles, and her love of music, parties, life and laughter. Thanks for
everything, mom, and, as you would say, "Auf Wienerschnitzel!"
A memorial service is being planned for Spring 2019 in Lakewood, WA. Please see the
Mountain View Funeral Home website for updates and to post a remembrance.
