Eldon C. Sherwood's Obituary
Eldon C. Sherwood, 91, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away at his home on May 5, 2026. He was born on September 9, 1934, in Tacoma to Royal and Vernice Sherwood.
Eldon was a lifelong resident of Tacoma and spent nearly his entire life in the home where he grew up, a place that remained a constant and meaningful center of his world. He was single and never married, but his life was deeply rooted in family devotion and quiet service to others.
Eldon worked faithfully for many years, first as a house cleaner for McLellan’s Home Cleaning and later as a maintenance worker for the Bethel School District. Known for his reliability and strong work ethic, he approached his work with care and humility, never seeking recognition.
Family meant everything to Eldon. He retired early so he could care full-time for his mother, Vernice, remaining devoted to her until her passing. This act of love and responsibility reflected the values by which he lived his entire life.
A man of gentle presence, Eldon was unassuming, faithful, kind, and steadfast. An introvert by nature, he did not seek the spotlight, yet his quiet goodness left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He was, in every sense, a good citizen.
Eldon enjoyed camping and fishing, finding peace in the outdoors and the simple pleasures of nature. These moments mirrored the way he lived—without excess, but with contentment.
Eldon C. Sherwood will be remembered for his devotion, integrity, and the steady kindness he offered without fanfare. His life stands as a quiet example of faithfulness and love, and he will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
