I just went out and read my email. I am shocked, very sorry, and very sad, to hear of Elba's passing. She was always so inclusive of people. I was always sent the emails with invitations to the DIVAS teas, however I only was able to attend one - and I brought a friend who really enjoyed it! The last time I saw Elba was at the yearly gospel fest at People's Park a couple of years ago. She had such a wonderful spirit and I am the better for having known her.

To the Polk family, please accept my sincere condolences and know that I am praying for you. For "earth has no sorrow, that heaven cannot heal."

I was sorry to hear about the home-going of cousin Elba. I remember her and Matthew taking time to talk to me at all the family reunions when I was younger. Every year, I asked my Papa ( Theadore Polk) or mom ( Donna Polk Stenson ) if Elba and Matthew were coming to the reunion so I'd have someone to talk to. (lol) She always took time out to entertain and talk to her "little cousin" ( me ) when all the other adults were talking or playing cards, she would ensure I was occupied. She was a very nice person and she will be greatly missed and forever loved. Love, LaDonnava

I worked with Elba at Madigan Army Medical Center and have fond memories of our time together. Elba always had a wonderful spirit. I was so sorry to hear of her passing but know she is at peace in a happier place. You'll be missed Elba. Kathy Kutscher

I'm thankful that God saw fit for our paths to cross thru your marriage to my Uncle Jesse Johnson. You were a great aunt to my girls and I will always cherish you and our memories for that. My very first memory of Elba was when I was about 5 years old and Uncle Retavis and Aunt Evelyn arrived at our home in Dallas and we go to see Elba for the first time. She was about 2 months old; she was in a white bassinette. They brought the bassinette into the house and sat it next to the window in the kitchen next to the dinette. I remember walking up and peeping in to see her. She was so beautiful and had a little gold ring on her finger. Elba was a very sweet, kind and caring person.

When I first joined New Beginnings Christian Fellowship Elba was one of the first people to welcome me into the church familiy. I truly appreciated her reaching out ot me and making me feel included. She also extended an invitation to join the Divas for tea. I will sincerely miss her warm spirit, generous and giving nature, and her beautiful smile. She was a one of a kind person, always postive and with a strong faith in God.

Elba was such an inspiring spiritual young woman, her kindness and joy will be remembered by all of those she touched. It was amazing to feel such tremendous spiritual power emanating from such a small little lady. She would embrace you with a warm hug and her delightful smile and invite you to share in her joy of spirit, what a blessing.

I was blessed to have the DIVAS hold their monthly meeting in my tearoom,The Healing Garden Tearoom. Elba always remembered to celebrate everyone's birthday with a treat or gift. The ladies enjoyed being together; the laughter, the fun, the sharing, and the prayer was always special. Elba guided the group with such grace, love, and kindness. I am honored to have had the opportunity to know such a beautiful, gracious, spirit filled woman.
