Elaine Lucille Mitchell's Obituary
It’s with profound sadness we announce the passing of Elaine, our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all whose lives she touched on December 15th, 2019, in Tacoma Washington. Born April 4,
1938, she was 81 years old. Elaine had lived in Stockton, Missouri for the last 30 years until recently when she moved to be with her daughter due to her failing health.
She left us peacefully at her daughter’s home with her family and dogs by her side.
She was born in Hope, North Dakota, to Alice (Jones) and John Lee. Mom was very proud of her large family of 9 siblings and had many great stories of her childhood years, especially with her side kick Jim Lee. After she graduated high school, she joined the Air Force where she met and married the late Jimmie V. Mitchell. She leaves behind sisters Shirley Winn, Arizona, Alice Hendricks, Florida, Connie Fisher, Missouri, brothers Jim and Mike Lee, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her mother and
father, as well as sisters Joyce Rasmussen, S Dakota, Sharon Lee, N Dakota, Mary Fox, Missouri, and brother Neal Lee, Missouri.
Elaine was a dedicated mother first and foremost to Holly Harrison (John) of Tacoma, Washington and John Mitchell (Hazel) of Salem, Oregon. She was very proud of her children and loved them unconditionally. She truly was our “biggest fan” in the whole wide world. She was a loving grandmother to Kristina (Mitchell) Perez, Las Vegas, Nevada, Jamie (Harrison) Vadnais, Jesse Harrison, and Alice (Harrison) Wolfe, all of Tacoma, Washington, Justin, Kevin, Brandon, and Collin Mitchell, all of Portland, Oregon, James and Derrick Abbott of Salem, Oregon. She was also a great grandmother to Jordan and Jacob Vadnais, Logan Wolfe, Washington, Jaron Mitchell and Melody Abbott, Oregon, and Solana Perez, Nevada. She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with
them. “We LOVE you More”
Our mother also loved her dogs, Frank and Bella and treated them as if they were her children. She loved band big music, books, road trips, feeding her birds, working in her garden, dancing and collecting
angels. She always said she had 3 angels by her side, protecting her. Mom was a believer and held the love of Jesus in her heart.
We are holding 2 celebrations of Life, one in Tacoma, Washington in January 2020 and another in Stockton, Missouri, April 2020.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Tacoma Humane Society in memory of Elaine Mitchell.
