Elaine A. Hoffer's Obituary
Elaine Hoffer, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on August 3, 1943, in Fredonia, Kansas, to Everett and Velma Durham, Elaine lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.
Elaine graduated from Fredonia High School in 1961. Shortly after, she moved to Burlingame, California, following her marriage to Joseph Hoffer on April 12, 1964. Together, Elaine and Joseph moved to Elverta, California, where they raised their three children: Bryan, Keith, and Rebecca. In 1980, the family relocated to Puyallup, Washington.
In Washington, Elaine began working as a seamstress at BRB in Sumner. She later became a machinist at Boeing, where she worked until her retirement. Elaine was known for her warm heart, infectious smile, and unwavering kindness. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and loved. She always welcomed friends and family with open arms and a generous spirit.
Elaine had a passion for reading, especially westerns and romance novels. Her favorite place to relax was by the ocean, and her favorite flower was the sunflower. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, and crocheting. Elaine had a great sense of humor and was known for her kindness, love, and support for her family.
Elaine is survived by her siblings, Erma Whisman of Elverta, CA, Esther Lakin of Eldorado, KS, Russell Durham of Independence, KS, and Thomas Durham; her children, Bryan Hoffer of Milton, WA, Keith (Cynthia) Hoffer of Graham, WA, Rebecca (Mike) Abernethy of Spanaway, WA; and grandson Jacob Hoffer of Graham, WA.
Elaine will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at 11:00 am October 4th, 2024, at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
