Edwin E. Wallace's Obituary
Â"GrampsÂ" passed away peacefully on March 31st just two months after his wife of 60 years.Born to Ellis and Ethel Wallace in Jerome, Idaho, his family moved to the south Seattle area in 1924. He was a 1935 graduate of Franklin High School. Ed worked at the Olympic Garage and the City of Seattle Engineering Department during the 30Â's. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. pilot in 1943 where he flew 60 combat missions in the Mediterranean Theatre. After returning from the war he married his childhood friend, Nina Tedford, in 1944. Again he worked for the Olympic Garage as a night foreman and then as a Seattle police officer before joining with Boeing Company in 1948. His family moved to Bellevue in the early fifties. During this time he was active with his sonsÂ' Boy Scout troop taking them for annual 50 mile hikes for 20 years.Not only was he a 20 year veteran of the US Air Force but also a 31 year employee of Boeing. Upon retirement he and Â"GrammaÂ" moved to Puyallup to be closer to their sons Ed (Cynthia) of Winlock and Jeff (Estella) of Tacoma, 9 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He and Nina were active volunteers for the Puyallup Valley FISH Food Bank and active members of Summit United Methodist Church until health issues limited out-of-home activities.
