Edward J. Shannon's Obituary
Edward J Shannon, age 81, died at home in Lakewood, WA on April 15th, 2023. He was born November 19th, 1941 in Providence, RI to Francis Shannon and Mary Moran Shannon.
Ed enlisted in the US Army in 1963 and retired as a full colonel in 1992 after more than 28 years of active service.
In 1966, he married his sweetheart Jayne Malikowski and they had three children, Kelly, Kerry, and Denis. Ed and Jayne were married for over 56 years.
After retiring, he became an avid fly fisherman and golfer. He was a member of Oakbrook Golf Club for over 23 years. If he wasn't playing golf, he could be found on the driving range. He was also an active member of Lakewood Rotary. Also, Ed and Jayne travelled extensively in the U.S. and to Ireland and Scotland; Ed played over 775 golf courses. Ed was also a huge sports fan, particularly of the Boston Bruins hockey team.
He is survived by his wife Jayne and his three children, Kelly (Marty Hedwall), Kerry (Liam Pechon), and Denis. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Emily (Sinead Pechon) and Ashlyn, as well as Ed's siblings Maureen and James, and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a reception to follow his service at Tahoma National from 4 to 6 pm.
