Ed Seferian was a highly talented violinist and conductor. I served with Ed on the music faculty at the University of Puget Sound as the cello instructor. We played together as members of the faculty piano trio. I played principal cello in the Tacoma Symphony under Ed's baton. Ed's musical leadership in Tacoma left a lasting positive impact on the arts community there. He brought internationally famous performers to Tacoma, forever enriching the lives of the audiences there. I will always remember and greatly appreciate his mentorship and friendship. He helped me get a full scholarship to attend the University of Puget Sound as an undergraduate. This opportunity was invaluable to me since I came from a family with few resources. Ed was a fun person and a serious musician. We shared a lot of laughs and beautiful music making. Ed loved his family - he always talked about his wife and children. I respected him for that. He was a real mensch. After researching about him online, I'm sorry to read about his passing.
