Edward Jackson DuPree III's Obituary
Edward J. DuPree, III was born to the union of the late Roy and Annie Frances (Tomlin) DuPree on April 13th, 1954 in Sanford, Florida.
He graduated from Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida with the class of 1974. Edward matriculated to Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Accounting in 1982. He continued his education at Clark Atlanta University earning a Masters of Business Administration in Corporate Finance in1986. Edward’s passion for knowledge further propelled him to earn an additional Masters of Science degree from Columbia University in 2013.
Although he was accomplished in his education, becoming the father of his three children was among the proudest moments of his life. He had two wonderful sons, Edward Jackson DuPree, IV and Shannon Jovan DuPree. His beautiful daughter, Morgaine Ann DuPree, was born to the union of marriage with former wife Barbara Jones Wilson. Edward and Barbara were also instrumental in raising Arielle Barrows, a beautiful baby that they called their own from 4 days to 3 years old. She is now 18 years old and graduating from high school. He adored these children, love talking about them with others and spending time with them.
Edward enjoyed over 30 years of business and professional experience that included working in financial management with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and the Polaroid Corporation as well as owning his own business. He was not only savvy in business, but he was also an unselfish educator willing to share his knowledge and experience with aspiring young men and women at Clover Park Technical College and Tacoma Washington Community College.
Edward was recognized as a community leader through his service and work with the Tacoma Washington Urban League. He was a critical thinker, always willing to lead candid discussions on a number of topics, an avid reader, an author of several published articles, and with a love for cooking, he was a ‘chef ‘ at heart.
Edward departed this earthly life on Wednesday, December 9th, 2015. His parents, Roy and Annie Frances DuPree and two sisters, Clontha E. Hampton and Bridgette E. Perez, preceded him in death.
Left behind to cherish his memory and honor his life are two sons, Edward Jackson DuPree, IV and Shannon Jovan DuPree; daughter, Morgaine Anne DuPree; sisters, Judy Lynn DuPree Daniels and Allyson DuPree Smith (Seabron A. Smith); brother in law, Zed Hampton; family adopted brother, Bobbi Carter; granddaughters, Jai’da Jakeria DuPree and Donzai Amilya DuPree; uncles, John E. Tomlin (Emma Tomlin) and Charlie Stone; aunts, LaVern Gosby, Barbara Edwards and Margaret Huff; and generations of loving nephews, nieces, cousins and a community of friends.
To God be the Glory!
