Edward Charles Hemel's Obituary
Edward Charles Hemel Edward died Thursday, September 9th 2004 at Morton Long Term Care in Morton, Wa. at the age of 87. He was born to Joseph and Mary Hemel on April 13, 1917 in Tacoma, Wa. where he lived throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ted, Joe and Stanley. Also preceding him in death were his dear friends Tom and Stan Beksinski and Jimmie Dogan. Ed was a World War II Veteran. He served in the United States Army from May 1942, until November 1945. He held the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to the duties of Auto Equipment Mechanic. His love of repairing machinery and equipment stayed with him throughout his life. Ed held many jobs and continued to work for his entire life. He was a truck driver, warehouse man, parts man and farmer. He recently retired full time at the age of 86. He loved working on the Beksinski farm. After getting in hay and silage since 1956, Ed decided to spend his last year at the farm in Randle. Ed was a fun loving guy who enjoyed Polka music and teasing the young kids at family gatherings. He loved sitting down to dinner with his many friends and watching a good western on TV.Survivors include: A special niece Barbara Hemel, 3 other nieces, 3 nephews and the extended Beksinski family. Services will be held for Ed at 10:00am, Saturday September 18th, 2004 at the Mountain View Garden Chapel in Tacoma. Reception following. Graveside Service at 3:00pm Morton Cemetery in Morton, Washington.
