Edna Delores Neighbors' Obituary
Edna D. Neighbors (84) left this life from the comfort of her home in Lakewood, WA, on Sunday afternoon, April 7, 2013, following a chronic illness. She joins her husband, Melvin "Hank" Neighbors, who recently preceded her in death, December 8, 2012. Born October 31, 1928 in Lamar, CO, daughter of Dennis and Verda Brown.
Edna was raised in Colorado and attended Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Edna was the first Police woman in Riverside, California, and first woman Detective in Riverside County. Her life was surrounded by Baptist Preachers her late father, Dr. Dennis J. Brown; first husband, Lewis Elmer Fountain; brother, David J. Brown; son Dennis E. Fountain; grandson Dennis J. Fountain; and son-in-law James A. Zeik. A faithful member of Grace Baptist Church of DuPont, Edna had a strong faith in Christ and gladly shared the Gospel with anyone she met. She was pianist and secretary for various churches throughout her life. Edna leaves sons, Dennis (Judy) Fountain, Lakewood, WA, and Melvin (Pat) Neighbors, University Place, WA; brothers David J. Brown, Yakima, WA, and James A. Brown of Rouge River, OR; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Her nieces and nephews were very special in her heart and life. A brother Jed R. Brown preceded her in death.
Service will be at 11:00 am Friday, April 12, 2013, at Mountain View Funeral Home; 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW; Lakewood, WA, 98499. A memorial fund is set up in lieu of flowers.
