Edna Nadeau's Obituary
Edna Nadeau Edna Nadeau, 88, of Tacoma WA. died January 8, 2014. Edna was born January 16, 1925 in Forbes North Dakota and was the daughter of George and Lydia Wolff. She is survived by her two sons Denis (Karen) and John, four grandchildren Jeff (Tera), Dan (Angela), Natela (Joe), and Maddie, great grandchildren Nathan, Jacob, Finley, and Eden, and her sister Wilma (Alden). Edna was proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years Flanoi, her brothers Herbert and Elmer, and her sisters Florence and Lenora. Edna grew up on a small farm in Forbes, North Dakota. When World War 2 started she moved to Tacoma to join her sister Lenora and support the war effort by working in the shipyards. Soon after the war ended she met her future husband Flanoi and they spent the rest of their years together in Tacoma. Edna's main interest was always her family. During their marriage Flanoi and Edna spent many Friday nights dancing at various clubs, and they used to go fishing in the local lakes. She was the scorekeeper for hundreds of baseball games for teams coached by Flanoi for both the boys, and hit countless fly balls and played catch by the hour with them. She loved her grandchildren and was involved in all their activities whether sports, music, or just making them cookies and handmade malts on their numerous visits. Both her boys as well as all the grandkids can testify that Edna spent much of her time worrying about them and following up in person or on the phone to make sure they were okay and doing the right thing. She loved and was very knowledgeable about all the local sports team, and up until the end she was an avid follower of the Huskies, Mariners, Seahawks, and especially Ryan Moore's golf achievements. She was a great baker and anyone would tell you she made the best pies and cookies in the world. Her signature item was her peanut butter bon-bons which were always in great demand during the holidays. She also loved to garden and for years had flowers, corn, and a prize raspberry patch in the backyard. For over 50 years Edna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, 3410 6th Ave, and a celebration of her life will be held there on Saturday, January 18 at 2 pm. A reception will follow at the church. The family would like to thank the staff at Laurel House-Recollections for their loving care of Edna during her final months.
