Edna Mae Morrison's Obituary
Edna was born November 4, 1905, and passed away June 28, 2010. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma and Washington State Normal School (now Western Washington University) in Bellingham. Edna was a school teacher for 35 years, mostly in Tacoma, Washington. She served as President of Tacoma Education Association, and also board member of Washington Education Association. She was also a life member of National Education Association. She held a 50-year membership in Delta Kappa Gamma (Alpha Chapter - Retired). Edna also held 50-year memberships in Eastern Star (White Clover, Chapter 31), and Daughters of the Nile (Zora Chapter 5). Edna was married to Rolland (Rolly) Morrison for sixty-one years until his passing in 1995. She was predeceased by three brothers, A.J. Wise, John Wise, and George Wise, and two sisters, Pearl (Wise) Ethell and Ella (Wise) Waldrep. Edna is survived by nephews John Wise, David Wise, Jim Ethell, Ray Ethell, and Scott Ekern, and nieces Sharon Ahrenstorff, Lynda Mason, Sheila Petersen, Pam Drummond, and Wendy Ekern, and their extended families. Edna enjoyed many hobbies, and over the years friends and family members were gifted with many items handmade by Edna:Eglass paintings, embroidery, knitting, crochet, and beautiful calligraphy. The last eleven years Edna lived at Tacoma Lutheran Home, where she served on the Resident Council. She was also librarian and head of the Sunshine Committee there until her passing at 104 years of age. A memorial service will be held at Tacoma Lutheran Home on July 17th, 2010 at 1 p.m.
