Edna Brooks' Obituary
Edna Irene Brooks
12/12/1917 - 5/15/2012
Mom was born in Tacoma and grew up near Lake Louise on property that included orchards, forest, fields and flower gardens. For many years the family home was the only house for several miles around. Mom was free to explore and learn about plants and flowers from her parents. She acquired a love of nature early in life, and passed this on to her children, Jacqueline Farrell, Michael Farrell, James Farrell, and Teresa Goretzka. Mom shared her knowledge of wild flowers of the Pacific Northwest by giving lectures to local organizations. She and her husband Al travelled and took slides of the wild flowers to include in her presentations. Mom loved gardening. She also enjoyed handicrafts such as ceramics and scrapbooking. For many years, beginning in 1938, Mom worked as a nurse at Western State Hospital. Throughout her life she wrote charming poetry abut life changes, nature and holidays. Mom is survived by her four children, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by parents Edith and Clarence Tucker, brother and sister-in-law James and Paula Tucker, grandson Patrick Farrell, and husband Al Brooks.
