Edna Malie Baker's Obituary
Edna Maile Baker (née Kaneali'i), aged 86, formerly of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed into eternal rest on April 2, 2024, in Tacoma, Washington. Born on May 5, 1937, to the late Benjamin Kaeha and Rose Lokalia Kaneali'i, she was a woman whose life was a melody composed of love, family, and the joyful traditions of her Hawaiian heritage.
Edna Maile Baker's life was a testament to her unwavering faith in God, to the beauty of familial bonds, the resilience of the human spirit, and the enduring power of love. Her memory will be enshrined in the hearts of her family and all who were touched by her radiant life.
She was the beloved matriarch of her family, a role she upheld with grace and devotion. She is survived by her loving children: Jack Kaneali'i Baker and spouse Donna, Benjamin Kaeha Baker and spouse April, Edna (Ahlan) Maile Baker, Jack Napahuelua Baker III and spouse Blanche, Emma Thompson and spouse Wilbert, Jason Kahealani Baker and spouse Melissa, Shelden Kalani Baker and spouse Janice; her cherished siblings: Mary Leimokihana Ralar and spouse Togo, Edith Wainani Yim and the late Patrick, Joseph Iokepa Kaneali'i, Ermory (Honey) Kealohalani Higa and the late Canoe, Alfred Kaha'awinui Kaneali'i and spouse Darlene, Elaine Mahealani Kaina and spouse Aulden, and Axel Keli'iho'omalu Kaneali'i and spouse Elisha. Her legacy includes 34 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, who will carry the torch of her spirit forward.
Preceding Edna in death were her husband, Jack Napahuelua Baker Jr., her daughter Wainani Lana Lynn Baker, and grandchildren Kamoha-Ali'I Willis Baker, Kuliano Kyle Baker, Kahealani Victor Baker, Meilani Maruko Baker. She was also predeceased by her siblings Dolores Lokalia Bowen, Benjamin Kaeha Kaneali'i Jr., Diane Kehaulani Higashi, Samuel John Akea Kaneali'i, Raynette Leialoha Saito, Isaac Kukuiokalani Kaneali'i, and Julie Ann Ku'uleilani Kaneali'i.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services to be held in her honor on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at the Christ Embassy Church of Tacoma, Washington, located at 2000 South 109th Street, Tacoma, WA 98444. There will be a family viewing at 9:00 am, followed by a public viewing at 10:15 am. The final commendation and farewell will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. A procession to the gravesite is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm, with the graveside service commencing at 2:30PM.
Funeral reception will be held directly following the graveside service at the Christ Embassy Church of Tacoma, Washington.
