Would like to send my condolences to Mrs. Plaehn and the rest of the family. I grew up with them and Pastor Plaehn was always my light. I will always love him and the memories I have of Peace Lutheran church and the family I grew up with under his mentorship. God speed, God bless with all of my love, Clarence Ivan Johnson and family.
Holle was such a beloved pastor and guide. He was always there for me and my family through many sorrows and joys. He married my husband Mark and I just before he retired. He really never retired as he continued his dedicated work for the Lord. He was a becon and light for the Lord in the Hilltop. God worked through him in many ways. We cherish the memories of Pastor Plaehn and was a good influence on our family. So thankful for Carol and her faithfulness also. Our prayers are for the whole family. When I heard the new of Holle's death I had a smile as I know he is with the Lord and all the much loved members who passed before him. I know there is a great rejoicing in heaven.
Pastor Plaehn was our pastor for several years and baptized our first child, Phoebe. In my entire life, he stands out as a singular figure: faithful, loyal, humble, and determined. He made much of being a simple country preacher from Texas, but his sermons were the most beautiful and profound words, always with a message of hope. But also, he spoke of urgency. "We don't have forever, Friends," he said. Pastor Plaehn, I think your congregants, friends and family wanted you to have forever because we have a hard time facing a world without you in it. I know you endured much: illness, sorrow, and life's painful turns, always with surrender to God. So rest now, good and faithful servant.
