Edith R. Kessler's Obituary
Edith R. Kessler passed away March 18, 2006 in Puyallup, Washington. She was born April 5, 1920 in Sumner, Washington, to William and Maude Moore. The family moved to Tacoma in 1929 and she attended Lowell, Jason Lee and graduated from Stadium High School in 1937.After graduation she worked at Crown Drug Store. After dedicating time to her family, she returned to work in 1956 as Secretary to the Pierce County Superintendent of Schools. She retired 25 years later as executive Secretary to the Superintendent of Puget Sound Educational Service District.In her youth Edith was active in Tacoma Assembly of Rainbow and served as Worthy Advisor. She was a 60 year member and Past Matron of Vida Chapter Order of Eastern Star, member of Puyallup Elks Emblem Club, and member of Puyallup First Presbyterian Church.She is survived by her husband of 65 years Donald Kessler, son Lee (Louella) Kessler, daughter Gayle (Don) Shenk, grandsons Lance Kessler and Ken Shenk, brother C. E. Moore, a niece, nephews and many cousins. Preceded in death by her parents and brother Wm Leonard Moore.Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church, 412 West Pioneer, Puyallup, WAIn lieu of flowers memorial donations in her name to First Presbyterian Church, PuyallupThe family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Linden Grove Health Care Center for the last three weeks of her life.
