Edith Beck PowersJanuary 3, 1906 Â- June 29, 2006Becky was born on January 3, 1906, to Swedish parents Oscar & Lottie Beck in Tacoma, Washington. She was the younger sister to Robert. She grew up on McKinley Hill and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1924. She enjoyed her single life with a career in retail sales and many friends and activities. In 1935 she married Bill Powers and they moved to a home in the north end of Tacoma. Their daughter Janet was born in 1938, and Becky became not only a fabulous homemaker but the best mom in the world. She continued her career in retail on a part time basis and was also involved in her daughterÂ's activities and was an active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, The Quax Club, The Back Acres Garden Club, The Food Bank, and several bridge clubs. In 1996 she moved to Vancouver, Washington to be closer to her daughter. She continued her busy life in her retirement home in Vancouver, meeting a whole set of new friends and continuing to play games and taking day trips while spending more time with her family. She will best be remembered for being a mom, grandmother and Â"GGÂ" Â- great- grandmother. She loved her co-workers, friends and neighbors. She was able to have her 100th birthday with a big party in January with all of her family present. She will be missed by her daughter Janet Morgan, son-in-law Harley Morgan, grandchildren: Sally Leist (Scott), John Morgan (Marlo), and David Morgan (Susan). In the past few years she was also able to get to know and enjoy her nine great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on July 5th at Bethany Presbyterian Church.
