Eddie Lee Enoch's Obituary
Eddie Lee Enoch was born May 8, 1944 to the late Walter and Fannie Enoch in Burlington, NC. Eddie was the 5th of 11 children of whom 5 have preceded him in death along with their parents. Deceased siblings include sisters Elsie Marie Pinnix, Gertha Mae Shoffner, Margaret Enoch McNair and brothers Willie Larry Enoch and Robert Enoch.
Eddie leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife of 51 years, Rose Enoch. Also mourning Eddie are three godchildren; Tabatha (Israel) Chinn, Vancouver, WA; Larry Opher, Spanaway, WA and Lisa (Ronald) Spencer of Seaside, CA. His remaining siblings are brothers Carlacy (Goldie) Enoch, Eustis, FL; Richard Enoch, Greensboro, NC; Arthur (Valerie) Enoch, Burlington, NC; and sisters Carolyn Enoch Liggins, Burlington. NC, and Delores Enoch, Burlington, NC. Eddie and Rose’s extended family members include 4 grandsons, 5 grand daughters and 4 great grandchildren. Eddie also has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special friends are Steve McRavin, Tony Rice and Gillian Johnson. All of us will miss him dearly.
Eddie graduated from Jordan Sellars High School in the class of 1962. Upon graduating, Eddie decided on a military career where he honorably served the United State Army for 20 years. During his military career, Eddie had several different assignments to include 2 tours of Vietnam, Iran, US Recruiting Command Sherridan, IL, Ft. Bragg NC, Ft, Polk, LA, and Ft. Lewis, WA. During his career, Eddie did not settle for average. He received numerous awards and accommodations including the Army Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4th OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (6 awards), National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Unit Citation with Gold Star, and the Overseas Service Bars, (3).
Eddie held many leadership positions during his military service. Once Eddie retired from the military, he decided to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree at Evergreen State College. He was then employed as a Washington State Corrections Officer at McNeil Island State Prison. Soon after leaving there he began his second career with the United States Postal Service where he remained until his retirement in 2002.
Eddie was active in the Prince Hall Masonic Family. As a member of Egyptian Lodge #44, he served every position in the lodge up to Worshipful Master. He was also Commander in Chief of Cascadian Consistory #75 and a member of Yemen Temple #152. While Eddie served faithfully in those houses, his heart and passion was in Prince Hall Grand High Court, Heroines of Jericho. Eddie was a member of Rainbow Court #2 where he became the Worthy Joshua. Eddie later ascended to the highest position a male could hold in that organization as Grand Worthy Joshua. This was a position he held from 2000 to 2003. Eddie was faithful in his attendance to Rainbow Court until his health prevented him from going. Although Eddie was not at meetings of late, he supported the court by sending financial donations and by attending outside events to support the court and its members.
