Earl Lee Baxter's Obituary
Earl Lee Baxter, from Edgewood Washington, passed away September 5th, 2014 at age 94. Earl was born March 5th, 1920 in Challis, Idaho to Lee and Hellen Baxter. On March 5th 1933 he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen Edmonds. After 7 years as best friends they decided to tie the knot. On July 6th, 1940, in Salt Lake City they were married.
Earl was blessed to have a son, Fred and a daughter Jan. Between Fred and Jan Earl received 4 grandchildren; Kim, Michele, Scott and Lori. From his grandchildren he was given 9 great-children. Earl was able was able to call several places home, Challis, Id, Pocatello, Id, Algona, WA, Spokane, WA, Walla Walla, WA, Tacoma, WA, Quartzsite, AZ, Eatonville, WA, Phoenix, AZ and Edgewood, WA.
Earl attended the University of Idaho and served in the civil service in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. He was both a baker and an entrepreneur owning several businesses ranging from Baxter Potato Chips to Donald Duck Donets.
Earl was known for his “can do” and “take charge” attitude and his special love for children and animals. From his boy hood horse, Makay Doodle, through innumerable dogs, cats, and squirrels to grand and great grandchildren a special tenderness was obvious. His interests were many including riding the desert on his quad-runner, rock hounding, making jewelry, hunting and fishing and US history.
Over the last few years and months we have been able to see the blessing that he was to all who knew him. We will always love, honor and cherish his life.
