Earl Albert Monson's Obituary
Earl Albert Monson, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, February 2, 2004. He lived his life according to II Peter 1:1-9.Born the son of John and Ruth (Batty) Monson, January 3, 1922 in a log cabin at Hereford, South Dakota, he spent the first 18 years of his life on the family farm. Earl joined the Army Air Corp. after graduating from high school. After 4 years he was discharged returning to Rapid City, SD finding work in the Black Hills as a gold miner for a year. He reentered the Air Force in 1947. After 24 plus years of serving his country Earl retired from the the Air Force in 1967 as a Tech. Sergeant. He worked for Boeing for a year, was supervisor in the blueberry fields until he found employment with the Pierce Transit System for 14 years.Earl was known for his homemade ice cream, his beautiful lawn, flower and strawberry gardens. He was a faithful servant of God and a member of South Tacoma Assembly of God Church where he served many years as janitor.Earl was preceded in death by his wife Kathy, daughter Melodie, parents, sister Gladys, brother Arthur, and grandson Ben. He is survived by his son Paul and wife Elo, daughter Sharylyn Dixon and husband Leroy, daughter Faith La Roche and husband Todd, brothers Garner and Wayne, sister Velda, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2004 from 2 Â- 9pm at Mountain View Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held 2pm, Thursday, February 5, in the Mt. View Garden Chapel.
