One of my favorite memories of Sandy are the twinkle in his eyes as he described Mitch (his nephew) as a young boy saying he wanted to try smoking. Sandy, said ok and let Mitch try it, telling him to draw in really hard, which Mitch did. Mitch coughed and his eyes watered. We all, including Mitch, got a good chuckle at the story. I'll be forever grateful, as it probably had something to do with Mitch never having any interest in smoking again! We also enjoyed his stories about Sandy and his brother Don growing up. One of Mandy (Don's daughter) and my favorite "Sandy stories" was of Sandy and Don riding horses in Pt. Defiance park in Tacoma, because it was a great way to meet girls. Sandy was a great story teller and had an amazing memory. It was fun to hear him talk at family gatherings about family history.

My sincere condolences. I met Sandy at his house 1-2 times over 10 years ago. I enjoyed our visits immensely. Sandy's father EK and my grandfather Percy Murray were 1st cousins -- from the original Henry Murray homestead along Muck Creek near Roy. Percy's father Nelson and EK's father John ran the Roy General Store.

Dear Lynn, John and Katy,

I'm so sorry to learn of the loss of your father.

I lived next door to you on Tahoma Place, when we were all very little, so my memories are that of a 4-5 year old. My dad Art Manley built your house.

I can remember that you had a cute little dog named Patches. I have memories of having lunch on your patio with you and Marcie, on a warm summer day. I remember that you had a catalpa tree in your back yard that had exotic seed pods.

I remember one early morning going over to your house to play, but no one was up yet. Your garage door was open and I got in your fancy little metal car that had a steering wheel and pedaled it next door to my house, but my mom Jo made me bring it back.

I remember that your dad had a Mustang -- a '65?

I lived on Brown's Point for forty years. After my husband passed away I returned to University Place. If feels nice to be back.

Please know that I'm thinking of all of you at this time.

Mary Lou and I will always miss Sandy. Able to talk to him over Xmas time. Not sure how any of us ever made it off Baldy Mt with out a ski lesson from Sandy. A wonderful person with very fine mind. Our thoughts and prayers with Shirley and the Family. Tom and Mary Lou Tebb

Sandy and I met in 1969 when he and his law firm, Murray, Scott, McGavick and Graves helped me and the Bank of California acquire property we needed for expansion. That started a long relationship. We skied a lot together, were partners in a condominium at Sun Valley, Idaho and partners in several rental properties in Lakewood. Even after Sandy moved we got together for several years often for lunch and to talk about the good times. He was a great friend. With caring thoughts of sympathy to his family.
