Having worked with Dick for years, we heard many stories of his boys - escapades, adventures, and successes. Through those stories, we knew he and Linda were (and will continue to be) very proud of their sons. Reading the tributes for Duane, it's clear he will be missed by many people - and will leave a large space in at least that many hearts. I cannot begin to express my sadness in this tribute. Instead I'll focus on the wonderful memories. Thirty years ago, Duane, Joe and I set out form a rock band. Barely teenagers, we learned our respective instruments well considering our youth. I made the logical switch to bass (nobody plays better than Joe!) and off we went. The north end streets were a bit safer because three teenagers had a common love of music and a desire to make music. We kept it together for almost six years until we graduation from HS. The gigs, camp outs and the gatherings conjure up so many memories. Duane was a relentless prankster and had a wicked sense of humor. And of course was an insanely talented drummer. We never had a chance to play together again after high school and for that, I am sorry. This last week I've looked through the photo albums, watched old videos and listen to some metal. I worked with Duane at DaVita many years ago; in fact, he helped me keep all the A/P checks flowing out of our cubicle offices in a timely matter. I so enjoyed working with him, he was such a fun, laid back guy who always made me smile. We used to listen to the radio and we'd have little arguments about the talent of certain bands, (Pearl Jam comes to mind) but we always laughed about it. I worked with Duane for about 3 years at Davita. He was my Secret Santa one Christmas. I saw the tender side of Duane when he gave me a variety of beautiful matching candle holders and dishes. He had put thought and care into my gift. I am thankful I got to see his talent in music when I went to see "The Boinkers" preform a few years ago.

How sad I am to hear of Duane's passing. I was the host for his weekend trip to the infield at Charlotte. He was a guest in my home and my family I truly enjoyed getting to know him. My kids I and talked and laughed alot about his visit to the south. We all had a great time that week. He and I did not talk often but every once in awhile he would give me a little check in call. I am sure going to miss my NASCAR buddy, we traveled to Vegas together twice and I also took him to North Carolina with me so he could camp on the infield and chase the Nascar Drivers with me.
