Today I learned of the passing of Kim and Bette.
I knew Bette, a Christian friend, a long time ago when her kids were babies. I was a Bible teacher, and she liked to pick my brain about Bible topics.
Our ways parted and we have had no contact for literally decades. Today her name came to me in prayer. I wondered why the Lord brought her to mind, having no contact information. So-- went to my phone and found the obituary.....
I am a recent widow. My husband died on Jan 25. If you are also a person in grief, I would encourage you to check out griefshare.org. There is a grief class, either in person or on line THAT WILL HELP YOU TO HEAL. Our culture doesn't do a good job with death, and this class will put you together with others who are also on the grief journey. It is Bible based and will give you tools to travel from grief to joy. God loves you.

My husband, Doug Miller and my 3 daughters Mandie, Melanie and Taylor Miller were all Dr. Nordberg's patients, as well as my niece, Shelby. I got to know him when I went with my daughters to their appointments and sat in there with them, until they could drive themselves;) He would always ask about the family and how things were going with Taylor's school, what a kind and wonderful human being he was. My husband and brother also did work for him and his wife as well with their Excavation business at his home. I didn't get the pleasure of meeting his wife, but I am sure she was just as wonderful. What a great loss to so many people. Heaven gained some wonderful souls as angels!
Bette Nordberg was a great influencer for weavers. We are so sad to have lost this energetic voice for the handweaving community. She enjoyed the craft and shared that enthusiasm with others by joining several local weaving guilds and offering her talents to them, managing social media sites and stepping up to admin level when asked. Bette was our co-chair for the upcoming ANWG Regional Weaving Conference to be held in Yakima WA June of 2025.
Her voice and passion for the endeavor are very missed.
Our hearts go out to Bette’s and Kim’s family.
My heart breaks for the entire Nordberg family. Kim’s dad, Dave and I worked side by side for 38 years. He always shared heartfelt stories about all of his children and grandchildren. Kim was the most gracious humble person always with gentle smile on his face.I remember when Bette came in the shop with Peder in a-baby basket while getting her haircut. All the beautiful memories I have for Kim and Bette. God bless this beautiful family help heal their hearts………Isaiah 53:5
Dr. Kim was our dentist , along with his son Peder, for the last several years. During that time Dr Kim was able to care for my mom's dental health which was very meaningful to me because my mom had Alzheimer's. He was so gentle and caring with her, along with his wonderful staff.
He, along with Peder, was also instrumental in my mother-in-law's dental health who had several dental challenges because of her advanced age of being over 100.
The other thing that was unique to Dr Kim was his interest in getting to know about his patient's family members. He kept track of all our children and grandchildren. He would ask, "how is so and so". It was like being with a family member who knew how to do teeth!
It is with great joy that we know we will see him again in Heaven.
Lovingly, Cliff and Vonnie Gier
Our family has such fond memories of Kim and Bette Nordberg! We met their family AT Cannon Beach, during a summer week long conference at the center in 1989. They stayed in a little cabin next to ours. I remember them loading their 4 kids in a wagon to walk over to the dining hall for breakfast. Later, I became a patient at Kim's dental office. When I brought a few of our 4 kids with me, they could watch Focus on the Family videos in a special waiting area for kids. Later still, he became a big fan and contributor for our oldest son, Hans, when he became our state representative and senator. My husband, Walt and I would see them at the Cannon Beach Christian Conference Center, with their whole office at the Couples retreats. Just this past month, we read Bette's book "Evangeline" (which we see one of her granddaughters is also named.) This couple will be missed, but will see again in heaven!!! Sincere sympathy to the family.....especially his sister, who used to clean my teeth <3
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of dear Dr. Nordberg and his wife, Bette. Dr. Nordberg always took time to ask how I was doing and made notes in my chart of family news that I shared. In today’s world one does not often get to know their patients personally. Dr. Nordberg got to know me and my neighbors who eventually dared to go see him for dental care even though they were afraid to go at first. Of course, over time, he came to know them as well. He always asked me how they were doing if he hadn’t seen them in awhile. He spoke to me of his church and his involvement with the Canon Beach Conference Center in OR. Their passing is tragic. I hope their close family takes comfort in knowing they are with their Lord and Savior and that they will see them again. God’s peace to all the family and friends of Kim and Bette.
Sincerely, LeAnne Snow
