Doyce Ray Pike's Obituary
Doyce Ray Pike, 80 yrs 8 months and 20 days.
His beloved Lord Jesus reached down and gently cradled him in is arms, taking him home. Doyce was born 30 Nov 1928 to Lovie Bratter Presley Pike and Roy Bradley Pike. He was born and raised in Heber Springs, Arkansas and attended school there. He entered the United States Air Force in 1952, serving his country faithfully and to the very best of his ability until his retirement in May of 1972. He met and married his one true love in Heber Springs, Arkansas, Ms. Lavetta Jean Carr on 5 February 1952.
Upon his retirement he went to work for K-Mart in Lakewood. He started as a door greeter working his way to garden shop manager. He worked for K-Mart for 22 years until he retired.
Doyce served his Lord faithfully in the Lakewood Landmark Missionary Baptist Church where he accepted his Lord in 1973. He was ordained as Deacon of the church and served faithfully. He was also a Sunday School teacher and song leader. He surrendered his life to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in 1999 and he was a missionary in Olympia, Washington as well then he became the preacher of the Lakewood Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Lakewood, Washington serving his Lord faithfully, until due to his illness he had to retire.
Doyce leaves behind a loving family. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Lovie Pike and his father Roy Bradley Pike. Also his step-mother Beatrice Pike; Ople Carr his father-in-Law, and Leon Tilley, Royce Lee Ward his brother-in-laws. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lavetta Jean of almost 58 years, his mother-in-law Opal Carr, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas. Two daughters, Darlene (Glen) Whitbeck , of Tacoma, Washington; Janice (Joe) George of Denver, Colorado; one son, Donald (Marie) Pike, of Tacoma, Washington. He leaves behind 20 grandchildren: Katherine& Jason Leach; Mayme & Mateo Donaldson; Gregory Whitbeck; Raymond Whitbeck all of Tacoma, Washington, Jennifer & Randal Beaver of West Virginia; Jeanenne & Chad Dunbar; Jason & Amber George; Joanne George all of Denver, Colorado, Bobbie & Brian French; Tony & Christine Sutherlin; Aaron Wilks; Janice & Ed Riley; Henson & Catherine Weinman all of Tacoma, Washington. He also leaves behind 21 great grandchildren: Garrett Whitbeck; Brooklynn Donaldson; Abegail Donaldson; Matteson Donaldson; Kaylie Beaver; Zachary Beaver; Logan Dunbar; Mallory Dunbar, Brian Jr; Christian; Elijah French; James McKay; Damon Sutherlin; Devon Sutherlin; Hunter Wilks; Mya Riley, Henson Jr; Alyssa Weinman; Hannah Weinman; Trystin Weinman; Chase Weinman.
