Doug passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 22, 2013 in Tacoma, WA. He was born on April 19, 1957 in Tacoma to Donald G. and Gwendolyn J. (Thiederman) Rody. Doug graduated from Franklin Pierce in 1975. Accomplished four years of prerequisites. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic from Western States Chiropractic College in 1983 and post graduate certificates in Applied Chiropractic Sciences and Atlas Orthogonal. He also received a humanitarian award of Chiropractor of the Year in 2002.
Doug lived his 56 years to the fullest in spite of suffering with a lifetime of health issues. He never let it deter him from what he wanted to do. In 1987, along with his brother Dr. Gordon established “Rody Chiropractic” in Summit View. He was known for his gift of laughter and prayers of faith. He was a compassionate man and freely gave to his patients and all whom he met, leaving a lasting impression of his character and values. He fervently shared his testimony of all God’s miracles in his life causing all of us to increase our faith in God. He loved his family dearly and spent every moment he could to be a part of their lives.
In his last years, boating was his “Shangri-La” out on the Puget Sound to unwind and absorb God’s creation. He leaves behind his bride of 33 years Merrie; daughter Rachelle (Chris) Ballew; son Doug Rody; mother Gwendolyn Rody Harris (Richard Wilson); brother Dr. Gordon (Patty) Rody; sister Wendy (Brad) Ferrell; nieces and nephews Gerod Rody, Dr. Amy Rody, Cheramie (Adam) Henley, Kayla Ferrell, Nikalaus Ferrell and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his daughter Anastasha and father Donald Rody.
Visitation will be held from 8am to 11:30am, Saturday, November 2, 2013 followed by a graveside service at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at 1:30pm, Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Lighthouse Christian Center, 3409 23rd St. S.W., Puyallup, WA 98373. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to Romania Outreach Ministries, P.O. Box 28426, San Jose, CA 95159 and/or Cannon Beach Conference Center via www.cbcc.net.
